Tour Recap

July 5th, 2008

After having our show in Yuma cancelled on us pretty much last minute, we decided to take the drive out to San Diego. We stayed with Pat from Masterpiece and his friend Luke. The show was at The Pharoah's Den which was a sweet spot, excluding the fact that we had to carry our equipment up two huge flights of stairs to get to the venue on the 2nd floor. We played first and thought we played really well for the first show of tour, and we sold a few shirts and CDs. Masterpiece played next, followed by Xibalba, and then Life Or Death. It was cool to finally see them, they were awesome and really heavy. We packed up and we chased some guy down who David thought stole our bass equipment haha. We stayed with our friend Chris in Oxnard that night.

We woke up before the show to get Mexican food, which is all we had been eating since we left home, and we went to some place called Jesse's Taco De Mexico or some shit. It was a way sketchy place, but the food was awesome. We hungout around the beach and town all day until the show. There was a very good turnout at this show. Crucial, our friend Chris's band, opened and played an awesome set along with an In Control cover. We played later on and it was a lot of fun. We played the Figure Four cover (Kill and Decieve), but no one knew it haha. We sold a good amount of shirts and CDs and went out for pizza with all the bands after the show. Shit ruled.

After losing shows and getting new ones way too many times, we finally landed a show in Fresno, completely last minute. Fortunately, it was with Braindead (PA) and Die Young (TX). Our friend Justin had hit us up the day prior asking if Braindead could jump on some of our shows since they were headed the same way. The show was in a tiny ass garage in the hottest fucking city in California. As we were pulling up to the show, we were making a U-turn when a lady in a small car smashed into the side of us. Luckily, she hit our tire and pretty much just bounced off of us, leaving none of us or our vehicle hurt. We got to the show and Legacy from Oxnard played first, they were solid. When we played, the sound in the garage was actually really good, but that was probably because of how cramped everything was. After our set was over, we were all drenched in sweat. Braindead played next and they are honestly one of the best live bands. Kids loved it and they sold a bunch of copies of their records. Die Young played last and were solid as always. The kid running the show gave all the bands spaghetti after the show. We then went to Denny's with Braindead where several of our members "forgot" to pay for their checks. Free dinners rule, especially on tour. Then we headed to the house we were staying at with Die Young and Braindead.

When we woke up the next morning, most of us were in excruciating pain from sleeping on the floor. David and Damien got stuck sleeping in the wood floor hallway, so they didn't even have the luxury of sleeping on carpet. We went and got some really good Chinese food, with the exception of Patrice, who ordered the dog food platter. The show that night was in Sanger, California, which was way nicer than the previous city we played. We got to the show and the kid who was running it bought us a pizza and gave us drinks and shit, it was awesome. A bunch of metal bands opened the show and we just stood outside eating pizza, haha. Braindead played like 4th and they were awesome, a lot of kids there liked them and they sold a lot of stuff. We played right after them. It was incredibly fun and we sold a lot of merch and CDs. We went to Denny's after the show with the kid who put it on, one of the best people we met on tour (thanks again buddy).

After Fresno, we drove back to our friend Chris in Oxnard's house and didn't arrive until like 5:00 AM. We stayed the night and then headed to LA the next day to play Chain Reaction. About 20 miles away from the venue, our tire blew out and since we didnt have tools to change it, and apparently no where near we were had them either, it took us a lot longer to get the tire back on. The dude running the show said we were too late to play, even considering the circumstances. We heard word that there was another show not too far away that Braindead was playing, we headed there and saw Braindead's set. The show was in a practice space the size of a bedroom. There were like 8 touring bands there and a band called Hands In from Boston, MA. We met a bunch of people, sold a few cds, but before we could play, the show was shut down, bringing the total to two different shows we didn't play in one night. We headed to In N Out with Braindead, ate there, skated and scootered for a bit while Damien hit on some 14 year olds, and then headed to the bass player of Creatures' house to spend the night.

July 10th, 2008

Woke up and went to get a new tire for the Expedition and after doing this, we headed on the long road to our home away from home, Kingman. We stopped for gas in some little shit town where gas was literally 6 bucks a gallon. When we got to the show, it was pouring rain and lighting. We figured that there would be no one there. When we got to the show, we had to back our trailer through a swamp of water. It was awesome to see our good friend Ryan again, he hooked it up and had a barbecue and donations set up for us. We sold a ton of merch and shit, and despite several pieces of equipment letting us down and breaking this close to the end of the tour, we played pretty well.

Here is a video of us playing Visions in Kingman

Due to the amount of equipment malfunctions that occurred the night before, instead of playing this show, we decided to go back home and recooperate before the Tucson show. We apologize greatly for this Lake Havasu, but we'll be back soon.

July 12th, 2008 (Back Home)

After a good nights rest (finally), we headed to the show. Hellbound opened and played a bunch of covers. Braindead played second and killed it as always and we headlined and played pretty well. We hungout with Braindead after the show and BBQ'd at Vipers.
That concluded our tour, and we'd like to thank everyone who came out to our shows, bought a shirt or a CD, gave us a place to stay, booked a show, or supported us in any way.

We are just getting this set up, but this is where you will be able to find out what's going on in the world of Colossus. We did a tour a few weeks back up through California and some dates in northern Arizona. We played a bunch of dates with a band called Braindead from Philadelphia, we had a really great time and met a ton of new people. To any one who came out to our shows, bought our record, a shirt, or helped us in any way, it was very appreciated.
